 | The Spirulina is Earth's oldest living plant (3.6 billion years ago) and first photosynthetic life form that created our oxygen atmosphere so all life could evolve.
|
 | Spirulina is the most nutritious, concentrated food known to man containing antioxidants, phytonutrients, probiotics, and nutraceuticals.
|
 | Spirulina is the best whole food source of protein, betacarotene, GLA, B Vitamins, minerals, chlorophyll, sulfolipids, glyco-lipids, super oxide dimustase, phycocyanin, enzymes, RNA, DNA, and supplies many nutrients that are lacking in most diets.
|
 | Spirulina has high biological value protein with a superior complete amino acid profile containing all 8 essential amino acids and 10 non-essential amino acids with the correct proportions. It has an unmatched digestibility coefficient of 95.1%.
|
 | The amino acids in spirulina are delivered in an essentially "free form" state for almost instantaneous assimilation it also stimulates the immune system with its anti-tumour, antiviral and interferon inducing effects, helps to sanitize the bowel by detoxifying the colon and promoting the growth of friendly bacteria.
|
 | The algae promotes tissue repair in wounds and burns and has anti-infectious properties, helps to balance RNA and DNA nucleic acids |

Temperature Range:
68°F to 80°F (20°C to 27°C) but it is better to keep the cultures in the upper portion of the range.

Other:
- Spirulina is about 60% protein but contains high levels of calcium and phosphorus, and as calcium deficiency is a likely cause of spindle-leg, using it as a supplement for feed tadpoles may prevent this problem.
- If let it grow a bit in the tanks or tad containers the algae also have beneficial effects: they help keep the water clean and healthy!

METHOD
(Common Algae)
What you need:
10 gallon tank
Full spectrum lighting
Fish tank heater
Fish food
What to do:
- Start by filling a 10 Gallon tank with tap water and let it stand for about a week to make sure that any added chemicals evaporate.
- Cover the entire tank with a black bin liner to exclude any light that could start any unwanted algae growth.
- Crush some fish food, about tablespoon, add this to the water and leave for 24 hours still with the bin liner covering the tank, this is to provide nutrients to start the algae growing.
- Add a tablespoon of dried algae and stir to make sure the powdered algae is well distributed.
- In order to grow, algae need some sunlight or full spectrum light, maintain a day/night cycle of 12/12.
- Don't expose the tank to too much light or you will start to grow blanket algae.
After about a week the water will start to go green.
- Remember to replace the green water with distilled water or water that has been standing for at least 48 hours.

Housekeeping:
Do not add salt to the water or change the composition of the water or keep the water moving as this can also prevent algae growth.

To Feed:
The substance takes the form of a very fine (talcum-like) powder in a fetching shade of dark green.
Mixing a small amount with a teaspoon of water to make a paste is the best method, only use a tiny amount as over-feeding has caused fungus and death in a couple of tadpoles.
Add a small amount of the live cultured algae the rearing tanks.
